For non islanders (and I’m sure it happens other places) ‘hedge veg’ are unmanned roadside stalls where people sell surplus produce by selling veg in boxes that are literally in the hedge and leaving an ‘honesty box’ for payment.  I think it’s pretty cool that this still works here, and it’s yet another opportunity to buy local and seasonal and stay out of a supermarket!

Coast road by Albeq: Peppers 70p a bag, Aubergines 70p each

Saw lots at the weekend… lots of pumpkins about… exciting!! I was actually on the hunt for an onion on the way home from work today and stopped past two stalls, no joy on the onion but I got some nice big aubergines for 70p each!

Cobo coast road: Potatoes £1, Eggs £1.50
